“Oh, aren’t you sweet?” Lucas said as he swatted Connor on the shoulder. Connor grinned, and all Lucas could think about was how good his beautiful, smiling face would look all covered in come. He couldn’t help imagining those thick biceps bound by rope, and those muscular legs up on Lucas’ shoulders as he fucked Connor to within an inch of his life.
“You were great tonight, by the way. Especially the part when you tossed your cape off. The way you move up there…” Connor said, as he shook his head and smiled. “I don’t know how you do it.”
“Well, it would be wrong of me to deprive the world of this much fabulousness. I never really did much of the whole coming out thing. As you may have guessed, I’ve been out since the day I was born,” Lucas said with a laugh.
Connor looked at Lucas, his eyes clear with sincerity. “You shouldn’t sell yourself short though. You’re so… fearless. You are who you are and you don’t let anyone stand in your way,” Connor said, and something in his tone implied that he didn’t see himself in that way. That implication piqued Lucas’ curiosity; there was clearly a story there, and Lucas wanted to know what it was.
“But anyway,” Connor said, shrugging off his unease, “John’s been great at showing me around LA, but maybe you could show me the ropes around here,” he said with a lopsided grin.
“Hm,” Lucas said, pretending to mull it over. “I suppose it’s only right. I am the greatest queen in this castle after all.”
Connor laughed, and even though they barely knew each other, Lucas was struck by how much he really did love Connor’s smile.
“Then there’s no one better to be my guide.”
“No, there really isn’t,” Lucas said. With a smile on his lips, he surreptitiously looked Connor up and down again, considering his next words. Lucas was thoroughly enjoying their back and forth, and he didn’t want it to end just yet.
“Maybe we could do a trade of sorts, a bit of my knowledge for a bit of yours,” Lucas said and from the look on Connor’s face, it was clear he was enjoying their little flirtation too.
“I don’t know,” Connor said. “I don’t know if you’d be interested in any of the things I’m good at. Unless you need a carpenter to build you some cherry wood cabinets.”
Lucas laughed. “Probably not, considering the fact that I live in a studio apartment. I didn’t know you were a carpenter, Connor. You must be very good with your hands.”
“I am,” Connor said simply, and Lucas liked the fact that he knew what he was good at and wasn’t ashamed to admit it, not bothering to hide behind false modesty.
“And with the way you have to read blueprints all the time, I’m sure you must be very good at following directions.”
Connor swallowed hard and stared at Lucas, his cheeks a bit flushed and his lips slightly parted. “I… I am,” he said. He seemed both aroused and uncomfortable, and Lucas filed that information away for later.
“Well,” Lucas said, moving the conversation along and giving Connor a chance to recover, “I’ll let you know if I need any cabinets built, but in the meantime, I’d be happy to tell you all the dirt about Nebula.”
Connor chuckled. “I appreciate it.”
Lucas smirked. “I would say that I promise not to bite, but that would be a terrible lie,” Lucas said as he casually leaned in closer, using his slight height difference to make Connor look up at him. Some guys would have shied away at that point, but Connor’s gaze darkened and he leaned in a bit closer to Lucas before seeming to catch himself and pull back.
Interesting, Lucas thought.

There is something about the love of men for men that speaks to the heart. Masculinity in passion is more than muscle and attitude. It’s in the mix of hardness and tenderness, the burning gaze and the soft caress. The struggle with expectation to be tough and the need to be vulnerable. There is something about these stories that show men opening–sometimes eagerly, sometimes reluctantly–to love.
For your pleasure, we offer you men who reclaim lost love, men who find themselves in the love of another man, and men who defy oppression for the sake of love. These are stories that show that an ending is not necessarily the end and that softness is not the same as weakness. In all, eleven stories of love and romance between men from ForbiddenFiction’s top authors, including award-winners Julian Keys and Lynn Kelling. To you, our readers, we bring the love.
